so friending meme, hiiii~ ask me anything!
Greeting people from....
☆Multi*Fandom friending Meme☆
So peeps~ New and old included, I officially dub this an ASK ME ANYTHING post. I might write up some info later.
In life news, I have two essays overdue, derp derp and I bought that ridiculously overpriced doujinshi. And you know, I only feel half bad about it. The art looked great and again, not only was it a rare series, but also a rare pairing. I will be most pleased (and may even scan it because, lol, my kanji skills, they are le suk)
Also! A package from my mom arrived today~! She sent me mayorcas and turrones, mmmm. There's some pan sobao too, but it's gonna need a year in the microwave to become edible. Oh well~ It's the thought and deliciousness that counts, and that had indeed a lot of deliciousness.

so curious
First, what are you majoring in?
Second, I'm familiar with turrones, but what is a mayorca?
Third, do you also speak Spanish? I met this girl back in time, she was Puerto Rican, but even though she could fluently speak and read, she couldn't write in Spanish, it was a little strange, but she told me why later.
Fourth, what was the doujinshi?!

First! I'm majoring in Communications. I was originally considering double-majoring in that and English, but they're too many classes, so I may just end up minoring in English.
Second~ Mallorcas (I misspelled them, whoops) are a type of Puerto Rican sweet bread~! They are sooo good. The name comes from an island in Spain.
Third! I am totally fluent in Spanish! I'm not just Puerto Rican, but from Puerto Rico, so I learned it in school as a first language alongside English. At the same time, though... My Spanish writing isn't the best cuz I tend to speak more English than Spanish. But it's really more along the lines of spelling, like "decisión se escribe con 'c' primero o con 's'?"
Fourth~ This! Sob, it's going to be my first doujinshi, and I know it's ridiculously over-priced, but I've been so hooked on Nabari recently and this is like, the one crack pairing that I approve of... I couldn't let it slip away!

Those Mallorcas look delicious, I'm feeling kind of hungry now haha.
I see the difference now :) Sometimes I have the same issue with English, and even with Spanish when I'm thinking in English. Do you prefer one of them?
Oh, Nabari! I have a friend who's really into it, she tried to convince me today with a really funny macro. I watched a couple of episodes and it really didn't catch me, but maybe if I give it another chance, it will.
Another question, I saw the BSB friending meme in your profile, I'm intrigued, are you one of those BSB fans that hates Nsync?
no subject
Mmm, yess... I had to put them away cuz they smelled too delicious. I'd eat them all in one go xD;;
I usually prefer English when I'm on the internet, but in person I think Spanish sounds cooler. I speak a mix of bother with my friends back home
Nabari's really good~ You should try reading the manga. It's a lot better in terms of character development, and I hear the anime's ending isn't the best. There's a really important event that happens around chapter 50 or so that they cut out in the anime. To be honest, I started really liking the series after that happened. (I didn't really sympathize with one of the characters until much later on, so I felt like they focused way too much on him.)
xDDD yessss! I am a super fan of the Backstreet Boys, alas. I got super nostalgic back in like February (I never tire of linking to this.) I can't really say I hate Nsync. When I was little I originally liked them better, but now I'm older and I can hear the difference. Nsync was more like 'Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez & their backup dancers' whereas the Backstreet Boys harmonize a lot more and just, guh, sound beautiful together.

I also prefer English on the internet, it's in general an easier language to use, but I also think Spanish sounds cool. Me and my friends speak a weird mixture of English, Spanish, Wapanese (you can't call that real Japanese) and squeeling.
LOL I think I have an idea of who you may be talking about, thanks a lot though, for not including names, I appreciate the sentiment. I hate spoilers, but IRL I'm surrounded by people who bask in them happily and they're always telling me stuff.
Weeeeeell, I still like Nsync better, I did go and download all the BSB music like three months ago though, but after listening to all of it again I realized I preferred the first album. Nsync seem to be more... manufactured I guess? in their latest albums, but when it comes to fandom (because, hey I got the nostalgia, but it was for the gay, how sad) then I really prefer Nsync, but they happen to be thrown together a lot.

I feel bad cuz a lot of the time I spoil people assuming they already know what I consider "major plot points." Every time I've done that, people have gotten mad at me, soooo now I play it safe and go for ~*~extremely vague~*~ descriptions whenever I talk about anime. I can say, however, that Yukimi becomes way cooler later on in the series. He starts off kinda one-dimensional but becomes a lot nicer later on~
xDD Ahhh, yes. Bandom. I've been there. /browsed all the sites way back when. which is really a couple months ago, actually.

I think vague is definitely the way to go unless you're writing about it and have a huge SPOILERS sign, people won't get confused then and they'll read if they want. I think I'll give the manga a shot since you're so kindly suggesting it, also I've started to consider reading the manga to many shows is faster to know what the hell is going on.
LOL it seems like you really didn't like what you found.... random fact, when I was a kid (like 12) my favorite was Kevin, but I think that if I had to pick now I'd go for Brian.
no subject
Mission accomplished~ read it heeere Most of the times it's better to catch up on a series through the manga~ It's faster and a a lot easier to go back to if you forget something or didn't quite get it. It can't replace the action of an anime, but sometimes nothing beats the original~
xDD It's not that I didn't like it, I just feel kinda guilty! It's one of those "uhhh.... yeah, Shh. No." It's embarrassing, cuz a lot of it was so good! it was just mostly porn xD;; My favorite is still Kevin (sob, but he left the group) so after him it's actually Howie. He has a super talented voice and seems like such a dork. They always portay him as the soft-spoken one

Thank you for the link. I pretty much agree with you, sometimes, with particular manga like Nodame Cantabile for example, you need the music and the voices to get the feelings, but sometimes getting it just by words and images makes it so much better because it shows how really good the author is.
Haha, well, I don't know, maybe you didn't look right? There is a lot of porn and a lot of shipping, but there are also some gems with great plots. The porn seems to overtake everything though -_- I didn't know Kevin had left, why did he do it? That's awful. I agree with you on Howie having a talented voice, I always remember that high note on "I have to give" almost at the end, geeze, I could never reach that. I'm starting to realize I liked Nsync because I ignored Justin all the time xD I guess you do the same with Nick? He is (was?) so extremely popular.
Sorry for making you have two totally unrelated conversations with me at the same time :/

Yeah, some anime can really put the manga to shame, but that's usually when the manga's finished and they don't have to worry about fillers and simply refine the story. The fact that most of filler is so bad is a real testament to the manga writers; without the original material, it just isn't as good. Anime that start out as anime tend to be really good, and if the manga artist has a say in the anime's original ending (like in Trigun,) then it can be really good too. Otherwise, it's like the people who animate manga adaptations don't know their stuff xD
Hmmm, it's a lot harder to find stuff now. Most of it has been taken down with the years... As for Kevin, he left because he wanted to concentrate on raising his son B| but really I think he left cuz he was feeling too old for it. He's in his late thirties already, and has always been the oldest~ Either way, he still goes to concerts and they hang out, he just doesn't sing anymore. /tear It's a lot like that with Nick, though at least nowadays not so much. Way back when, Nick was the only one anyone cared about... it's annoying for those of us who love the non-popular guys. I remember back when I liked Nsync, Lance was my favorite~
Ahaha, don't worry! This is this and that is that~ Hope you sleep well :D
