First poll, hur hur~

It's funny. I was bored procrastinating, then the randomest thought occurred to me...

Hey self,
How American are you?

Cuz really, I'm not racially (wow that was a bad typo) an American, but I'm not a die-hard PRican, either. I'm a total gringa, and my Passport says "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" right on it. (That's thanks to the 'Jones Law', btw. PR History has taught me something, how 'bout that?)

I did a quick search in Google and all the quizzes for 'How American Are You?' are cliche 'are you a gun-toting, beer drinking, red-state dude who speaks American' style quizzes, so...

Help me out! What do you think defines 'an American'? Do you wear 'sneakers' and pronounce Z as zee not zed? (But actually less cliche would be better)

I might turn it into a meme or something.

[Poll #1341227]

s-sob. I really need a paid account. So many cool icons, so little space to put them in...

EDIT: You know what's really American? The TV I watch. As far as TV's concerned, I am American in that I can understand almost every popculture reference on the big network's shows. And yet (this is what clinches it for me) a lot of these big networks block Puerto Rico from their online content! Pisses me off like you wouldn't believe!

I like being part of the US. I'd rather be a closer part of the US. *cough*My PNP-ness is showing*cough* Because honestly, the way things are right now is screwed up. It isn't the fault of the US (although, even I admit it hasn't gotten better since they invaded) because it honestly started with the Spaniards.

D: I really don't like it when PR~os start saying that we should go back to "la madre patria, Espa~a" (Yes, there are people who say that, I'm not making it us) because honestly... they fucked us over and didn't even care until the last minute, when they decided that we were a lost cause anyway, so what the hay~!

I also really don't like it when people say that "if we become a state we'll lose out culture" Because it's a big fat lie. I'm sure even Blanca agrees with me here (even though she's totally nacionalista).

I don't think I'm "100% American". I love being a Puerto Rican too but, let's face it... I'm really glad I left for college. I'm sorry but, I just really had to get off the island.

Oh yah, by the way, there's a loophole in the Jones law in which we could actually request a Puerto Rican passport. Only like two people have 'em though.

..... long post is long

you don't have to look Puerto Rican to be Puerto Rican, Janet. xD Why are you so silly. LOL, and the reason why I wanted to leave wasn't because of education, although yes it's better here. I wanted to leave because the vast majority of Puerto Ricans are ignorant and hypocrites. I needed to get out for my own sanity.

I'm not exactly the most Puerto Rican either, but as long as you know the history, still know your Spanish, and know about your culture, you can still spread it. So what if you don't drink, it's ok. lol, I don't really drink either. You're 100% Puerto Rican, even if you don't believe it!
